He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, (Hebrews 1:3 ESV)

And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (Colossians 1:17 ESV)

In response to the christological views of such people as charismatic, revivalist leader Bill Johnson, who would hold that when Christ came to earth he put aside his deity, I say look to the Scriptures! For if the Son, the Word of God, eternally begotten of the Father with no beginning and no end were to cease to be such at any point in history the whole universe would collapse and cease as well. I say in response to such claims, with Scripture to witness, that if Christ were to cease to be God for even a second we would not be! He sustains and upholds everything by “the word of his might” in a continual action.

We as Christians worship Christ who has no beginnning and no end, who came to earth to die for our sins as Emmanuel, God with us, fully God and fully man. Jesus Christ has never ceased to be God nor will he ever. Amen.
